A nameplate, ROEDEER, from a LNER B1 Class 4-6-0 No 1040 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 25796, in April 1946 and named after a type of antelope found mainly in the north of Scotland, the only member of the class named after a British species. Allocated new to Norwich, it moved in 1951 to Darlington and later York, Low Moor, Mirfield and Wakefield from where it was withdrawn in July 1966 and cut up by Kings at Norwich. Cast brass, length 42". £6000-8000 |
