A smokebox numberplate, 53805, from a Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway 2-8-0 No 85 built by the Midland Railway at Derby, Order No 4209, in August 1914. After the S&D's locos were absorbed into LMS stock in January 1930, it became LMS No 9675 and was renumbered 13805 in 1932, becoming BR 53805. Always a Bath engine, it was withdrawn from there on 21 March 1961 and cut up at Crewe Works by 21 April 1961. Repainted. The plate is accompanied by its original sales paperwork. £800-1200 |
