A worksplate, BUILT BY (AND ON LOAN TO) LONDON NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY Co. 1945, DARLINGTON WORKS, No 1961, from a Stanier type 2-8-0 No 8554 built to Railway Executive Committee order and loaned new to the LNER at March in June 1945, classified as their O6 Class, until transferred to the LMS in July 1947, becoming BR Class 8F 48554. Its BR sheds included Widnes, Birkenhead, Bletchley and Crewe South from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 6 August 1966 and taken for scrap by Cashmores at Great Bridge on 18 November 1966. Engraved brass, 13¼"x7¾", in ex loco condition. £300-500 |
