A nameplate, FALCON, from the LNER A4 Class 4-6-2 No 4484 built at Doncaster, Works No 1849, in February 1937, renumbered 25 in 1946, becoming BR 60025. Allocated new to Haymarket, it moved to Kings Cross in 1939 where, apart from a couple of years at Grantham, it spent the remainder of its working life before moving for its final four months to New England from where it was withdrawn on 20 October 1963 and cut up at Doncaster Works in the week ending 4 January 1964. A famous Kings Cross A4 bird name and a very manageable 40½" long. £15000-20000 |
