A combined name and number plate, ORION, 3330, GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY, SWINDON WORKS, 1758, from a GWR 3300 Bulldog Class 4-4-0 built at Swindon, Works No 1753, in February 1900 and named after the mythological hunter. Numbered 3342 when built, it was renumbered 3330 under the 1912 renumbering scheme. Withdrawn in August 1938 and cut up at Swindon Works. Cast brass, 26½"18½", the front repainted. The oval renumbering plate in the centre was missing when sold by Swindon in the 1930s. A quality copy has been added to the correct dimensions, so a fine original nameplate with reproduction renumbering plate added. £5000-6000 |
