A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Coy, HYDE PARK WORKS, 24714, 1941, from a Stanier type 2-8-0 built for the War Department to Ministry of Supply order, WD No 506. Sent new to Persia as Iran State Railways No 41.216 and in 1944 to Egypt, becoming WD 70584. On returning to the UK in May 1948, it became Class 8F 48263 and was allocated to Crewe South and later Stafford, Nuneaton and Agecroft from where it was withdrawn on 27 August 1966 and taken for scrap by Cashmores at Great Bridge on 30 January 1967. Cast brass, 7¾" diameter, lightly cleaned but unpainted. £150-300 |
