| Lot 283 | A worksplate, VULCAN FOUNDRY, 4958, 1943, from a War Department Austerity 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Supply order in November 1943, WD No 77142. Loaned new to the LNER, allocated to Newport NER, and to the GWR in September 1944, allocated to Pontypool Road, returning to the WD the following January. Loaned again to the GWR in March 1947, allocated to St Philips Marsh and purchased by BR as No 90589. Its BR sheds included Newton Heath and Woodford Halse from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 25 April 1964 and cut up at Crewe Works by 22 May 1964. Cast brass, 9¾"x5¾", in ex loco condition. £250-400 |
