A smokebox numberplate, 90439, from a War Department Austerity 2-8-0 built by Vulcan Foundry, Works No 5012, in March 1944 to Ministry of Supply order, WD No 77496. Following loans to the SR, GWR and LNER, it was purchased by the LNER becoming their O7 Class 3118, later BR 63118 and 90439 in 1951. A long time New England engine, it finished its days at Frodingham from where it was withdrawn in November 1965 and sold for scrap to W. George, Station Steel, Wath. The front repainted. £250-400 |
