A worksplate, BRIGHTON WORKS, 1902, from a London Brighton & South Coast Railway B4 Class 4-4-0 No 43 built at Brighton in June 1902 and named DUCHESS OF FIFE, although it had lost its name before the Grouping. It became SR 2043 and was rebuilt with a K-type boiler in 1923 and re-classified as Class B4X. Withdrawn from Eastbourne as BR 32043 in November 1951, it was cut up at Ashford Works. Engraved brass, 6½"x3¾", lightly polished. £500-800 |
