A worksplate, BEYER PEACOCK, 7769, 1956, BUILT UNDER SUB-CONTRACT BY N.B.L. GLASGOW, from a South African Railways 3ft 6ins gauge GMAM Class 4-8-2+2-8-4 Garratt No 4103 built under sub-contract by the North British Locomotive Co, who allocated their own Works No 27695. The class were built for main line service, as indicated by the second M on the plate, and were the last class of Garratt in regular use on the SAR until withdrawal in 1984. Cast brass, 13¾"x6¾", the front repainted. £300-500 |
