A worksplate, GNR(I) DUNDALK, 1917. No new locomotives were built at Dundalk during the First World War but all the AL Class 0-6-0 tender engines were rebuilt in the War years. This plate is most likely to be from AL Class No 58 built by Beyer Peacock, Works No 3798, in 1896 and originally named KERRY (removed in 1912-13) which was rebuilt at Dundalk in September 1917 and withdrawn in October 1959. Cast brass, 8¼"x4½", the front repainted. £150-300 |
