A ship's bell from the Southern Railway steamer INVICTA, built by William Denny of Dumbarton in 1939 for cross channel services and requisitioned by the admiralty for use as a troop ship. She returned to the Southern Railway in 1945, passing to British Railways in 1948, working on the Dover to Calais route until withdrawn and scrapped in 1972. The bell is mounted on a wooden stand, complete with clapper and description plate. The diameter of the bell is 7". £400-600 |
