A worksplate HUNSLET ENGINE, 3196, 1945, from a standard gauge Austerity 0-6-0ST delivered new to the War Department at Longmoor in November 1944, numbered 5145, later 75145. Sent to France in May 1945 and returned to the United Kingdom via Dover in June 1947. Stored at Watnall Colliery, Nottinghamshire and sold to the NCB later in 1947. Overhauled at Moor Green Workshops, Eastwood, Nottinghamshire and latterly worked at the nearby Moor Green Colliery with the number 33. Transferred to Ashington Colliery, Northumberland in May 1965 where it was renumbered 53. Fitted with a Giesl ejector during overhaul at Ashington workshops in February 1967 and latterly worked at Bates Colliery, Blyth. Sold to W. Willoughby of Ashington for scrap in December 1969. Cast iron, 11½"x8¼", in ex loco condition. £150-250 |
