| Lot 400 | A GWR cabside numberplate, 1457, from a Collett 0-4-2T built at Swindon in August 1935, originally numbered 4857 but renumbered 1457 in December 1946 when the 48XX series were required for 2-8-0s converted to oil burning. Allocated to Croes Newydd by January 1948, it moved the following year to Birkenhead where it spent most of its BR days, moving late on to Kidderminster and Oswestry from where it was withdrawn on 16 February 1959 and sold for scrap to J.O. Williams at Barry on 15 September 1959. Cast brass, the front repainted. £400-600 |
