A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 3774, 1918, from a Robinson Great Central Railway type 2-8-0 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 21845, in April 1918 to Ministry of Munitions order for the Railway Operating Division of the Royal Engineers, ROD No 1868. Loaned to the GWR as their No 3084 in December 1919, it returned to the ROD in August 1922 and was stored at Beachley. It was sold to the LNER in December 1923, becoming their O4 Class No 6268 and renumbered 3774 in 1946, becoming BR 63774. Allocated to Retford GC by January 1948, it moved in August 1950 to Mexborough where it remained for eleven years before transferring to Langwith Junction and later Darnall and Staveley GC from where it was withdrawn on 10 March 1963 and cut up at Doncaster Works. Cast iron, 9"x5", the front repainted. £100-200 |
