A worksplate, VULCAN 4653, 1935, from a LMS Class 5 4-6-0 No 5110 which became BR 45110. Allocated new to Crewe North on 29 May 1935, it then spent thirty years at Holyhead before moving towards the end to Stafford, Bolton and Lostock Hall from where it was withdrawn on 11 August 1968 after working the final leg from Manchester Victoria to Liverpool Lime Street of the famous Fifteen Guinea Special 1T57. It thus became the last engine to haul a BR main line passenger train before a steam ban came into force the next day. It was sold for preservation and currently resides in the Engine House on the Severn Valley Railway. Cast brass, 9"x5¼", in ex loco condition. £400-600 |
