A nameplate, KITTIWAKE, from a Peppercorn A1 Class 4-6-2 No 60120 built at Doncaster, Works No 2037, in December 1948 and named in May 1950 after a species of seabird. Allocated new to Kings Cross on 10 December 1948, it moved in June 1950 to Copley Hill where it spent the remainder of its working life except for a final four months at York from where it was withdrawn on 20 January 1964 and cut up at Darlington Works. Cast brass, length 50", the front repainted. £8000-12000 |
