A nameplate, WALTER BURGH GAIR, from a Great Central Railway Class 11E Director 4-4-0 No 433 built at Gorton in October 1913 and named after a GCR Director who was also Deputy Chairman from 1918-22. It became LNER D11 Class No 5433 and was renumbered 2654 in 1946, becoming BR 62654. Allocated to Darnall by January 1948, it moved in October 1949 to Trafford Park from where it was withdrawn on 31 August 1953 and cut up at Gorton Works in the week ending 21 November 1953. Cast brass, length 58¼", the front repainted; brass ears on both ends. £6000-8000 |
