A signal box nameboard, KINNABER JUNCTION, the famous junction situated north of Montrose where the West Coast route from Euston, Perth and Forfar joins the East Coast route from Kings Cross, Edinburgh and Dundee. During the Victorian Railway Races to the North, at the height of East and West Coast competition for the Aberdeen traffic, the junction was a key point as the first train to approach Kinnaber was given the road north to Aberdeen. Enamel, length 57". The sign has been professionally restored, with chipping towards the right end neatly colour matched. £300-500 |
