| Lot 55 | A worksplate, VULCAN, 4918, 1943, from a War Department Austerity 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Supply order in September 1943, WD No 77102. Loaned new to the LNER, it returned to the WD in January 1945, loaned to the GWR in May 1947 and taken into BR stock the following year as 90565. Its BR sheds were Ebbw Junction, Cardiff Canton, Gloucester LM, Didcot, Banbury and Southall from where it was withdrawn on 7 September 1962 and cut up at Crewe Works by 3 January 1964. Cast brass, 9½"x5¾", lightly cleaned but unpainted. £150-300 |
