A worksplate, BEYER PEACOCK, 7851, 1957, from a South African Railways 3ft 6ins gauge Class GMAM 4-8-2+2-8-4 Beyer Garratt No 4136 actually built by the North British Locomotive Co, who allocated their own Works No 27788, as sub-contractors to BP. They were the last class of Garratt in service with SAR on most secondary lines in the country and were being withdrawn in 1984. Cast brass, 3¾"x6¾", the front repainted. £250-400 |
