| Lot 416 | A GWR cabside numberplate, 6979, from the 6959 Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 built at Swindon in November 1947 and named HELPERLY HALL when built, a mis-spelling of Helperby Hall, eleven miles north west of Harrogate. Banbury's finest, it spent all its working life there until withdrawal in the week ending 27 February 1965 and was sold for scrap to Birds Commercial Motors at Long Marston on 4 May 1965. Cast brass, the front repainted a long time ago. £1000-1500 |
