A nameplate, VENUS, from BR Standard Class 7 Britannia 4-6-2 No 70023 built at Crewe and allocated new to Old Oak Common on 21 August 1951, where it remained until moving by early February 1957 to Cardiff Canton. After moving away from the Western Region to Carlisle Kingmoor in September 1961, it had short stays at numerous LM sheds including Holyhead, returning to Kingmoor from where it was withdrawn on 30 December 1967 and despatched for scrap to T.W. Ward at Killamarsh on 26 April 1968. Cast brass, length 22½", in ex loco condition. £7000-9000 |
