| Lot 399 | A GWR cabside numberplate, 7228, from a 7200 Class 2-8-2T rebuilt at Swindon in December 1935 from an earlier 4200 Class 2-8-0T No 5263 built in March 1926. Allocated to Didcot by January 1948, it spent most of its BR days at Llanelly before moving towards the end to Banbury, Severn Tunnel Junction and Barry from where it was withdrawn on 26 July 1963 and sold for scrap to Hayes at Bridgend in November 1964. Cast iron, the front repainted, a vertical weld repair to the centre. £300-500 |
