A nameplate, LOCH ARKAIG, from the Great Northern Railway Class H3, LNER K2 Class 2-6-0 No 1674 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 21985, in July 1918. It became LNER 4674 and, following its transfer the Scotland, was named in March 1933 after the Loch in Inverness-shire. Renumbered 1764 in 1946, it became BR 61764. A long time Eastfield engine, it was a regular performer on West Highland line services. Withdrawn from Eastfield on 7 September 1961, it was cut up at Cowlairs Works in the five days ending 1 December 1961. Cast brass, length 56¼", the front repainted. £9000-12000 |
