| Lot 365 | A South African Railways cabside numberplate, 1717, from a 3ft 6ins gauge Class 14A 4-8-2 built by Robert Stephenson & Co, Works No 3559, in 1913. When a new boiler was fitted, it was re-classified as Class 14R, the A suffix being ground off the numberplate and replaced by an R, indicating it had been rebuilt. All were withdrawn by 1983. Cast brass, 20¾"x14", the front repainted. £300-500 |
