A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 2551, REBUILT STRATFORD, 1935, from a LNER D16 Class 4-4-0 No 2551 originally built by the Great Eastern Railway at Stratford in November 1906 as a Class D15 No 1840 which became LNER 8840. It was rebuilt by the LNER at Stratford Works and re-classified as D16 Class in March 1935 and renumbered 2551 in 1946, becoming BR 62551. Allocated to Cambridge by January 1948, it alternated between there and Kings Lynn until moving in December 1953 to Spital Bridge from where it was withdrawn on 16 July 1956 and cut up at Stratford Works. Cast brass, 9"x5", the front lightly cleaned. £250-400 |
