A nameplate, CHALE, from a London & South Western Railway O2 Class 0-4-4T No 180 built at Nine Elms Works in April 1890. It retained its original number in SR days and was despatched to the Isle of Wight in May 1927 when it was renumbered W31 and named after a village on the Isle. Withdrawn on 19 March 1967, it was cut up on the Isle of Wight. The plate is accompanied by its BR(S) sales documents and two photographs of the loco. Cast brass, length 22". £8000-9000 |
