| Lot 280 | A GWR cabside numberplate, 9018, from a 9000 Class 4-4-0 built at Swindon in April 1938, using the frames of withdrawn Bulldog Class No 3380 and replacing Duke Class No 3266, hence the Class often being known as Dukedogs. Numbered 3266 when rebuilt, it was renumbered 9018 in August 1946. Allocated to Swindon by January 1948 and later Oxford, Machynlleth, Croes Newydd, Shrewsbury and Oswestry from where it was withdrawn on 17 June 1960 and cut up at Swindon Works in the week ending 8 October 1960. Cast brass, the front repainted. £1000-1500 |
