A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Co, 25038, 1943, from a War Department Austerity 2-8-0 built in June 1943 to Ministry of Supply order, WD No 77167. Loaned new to the LNER, it returned to the WD in December 1944 and was shipped to Holland, becoming Dutch Railways No 4339. On returning to the UK, it was again loaned in March 1947 to the LNER and taken into BR stock the following year as 90154. Its BR sheds were Hull Springhead, Mexborough, Colwick, New England and Doncaster from where it was withdrawn on 17 April 1966 and cut up by Drapers at Hull in the week ending 17 September 1966. Cast white brass, 14"x5½", lightly cleaned. £150-300 |
