A cabside numberplate, GWR 83,from a Rhymney Railway P Class 0-6-2T No 6 built by Robert Stephenson & Co, Works No 3374, in August 1909. When the company and its locomotives was absorbed by the GWR in 1922 it became GWR 83 and was overhauled by Kitson & Co in 1924 and later rebuilt at Swindon with a Standard No 10 boiler in September 1939. Allocated to Dowlais (Cae Harris) in 1934, it moved to Rhymney in BR days ending its days at Cardiff East Dock from where it was withdrawn in May 1955 and cut up at Swindon Works. Cast iron, the front repainted. £1200-1500 |
