| Lot 164 | A long section key token from the West Highland Line, UPPER TYNDRUM-RANNOCH, (brass), these unusual keys were introduced at the time of the introduction at RETB (Radio Electronic Token Block). Problems with radio reception were causing delays to trains and in order to improve reliability emergency key token working was introduced between Tyndrum Upper and Mallaig Junction, though these locations had by then been renamed to avoid confusion during radio communications. A small number of tokens were provided for each section. (see following lot) £350-500 |
