A worksplate, KERR STUART, 3117, 1918, from a 2ft 0in gauge 0-6-0 side tank new to the Ministry of Munitions, National Shipyard No 2, Beachley Dock, Chepstow, Monmouthshire. Sold by auction in October 1920 to a dealer and later resold to Penrhyn Quarries, Bethesda, Caernarvonshire. Named SGT. MURPHY after the 1923 Grand National winner. Rebuilt at Bethesda in 1932 and withdrawn from service in 1955. Passed into preservation in 1964 and currently located at the Teifi Valley Railway in Mid Wales. Cast brass, 12¾"x6¾", unrestored with some paint to the face. £200-350 |
