A nameplate, MADOQUA, from the LNER B1 Class 4-6-0 No 1027 built at Darlington, Works No 2007, in May 1947 and named after a small species of southern African antelope. Allocated new to New England, it moved in May 1953 to Hitchin where it remained for six years before transferring in July 1959 to Darnall from where it was withdrawn on 16 September 1962 and taken for scrap by Cashmores at Great Bridge on 21 March 1963. Cast brass, 42¾", the front repainted. £6000-8000 |
