A South African Railways cabside numberplate, 1887, from a 3ft 6ins gauge Class 14C 4-8-2 built by the Montreal Locomotive Works, Works No 60261, in 1919. In the early 1930s some of the class, including this one, were re-balanced to enable them to be used on branch lines and they were re-designated Class 14CB, the B indicating branch line usage. After reboilering it was again re-designated as Class 14CRB, the R indicating the rebuilding. The class were all withdrawn by 1983. Cast brass, 20½"x14½", the front original paintwork, cleaned. £400-600 |
