Auction Catalogue: Great Central Railwayana, 2 June 2018
Lot 82 |
A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 9178, COWLAIRS WORKS, 1913, from a North British Railway Class D 0-6-0 No 178 built at Cowlairs in January 1884. It was rebuilt at Cowlairs with new boiler, officially in April 1912, but probably not completed until the following year, hence the date on this plate. It became LNER J33 Class No 9178 in October 1924, when this plate would have been fitted, and was withdrawn in January 1927, so a rare survivor. Cast brass, 9"x5", the front repainted. Note: The LNER N19 Class 0-6-2T No 9178 built at Cowlairs in December 1923 was not so numbered until 1946. £250-400 |
| This lot sold for £440. |
