A cabside numberplate, SOUTHERN RAILWAY, 1101, from a South Eastern & Chatham Railway B Class 4-4-0 No 101 built at Ashford in 1898. It was re-boilered in 1913 and re-designated as B1 Class, becoming SR 1101 and BR 31101. Along with several others of the class, it was immobilised for some months during World War II and made to serve as an air raid shelter. Cast brass, 13½"x7½", the front repainted. £800-1200 |
