Auction Catalogue: Great Central Railwayana, 2 June 2018
Lot 51 |
A worksplate, BEYER PEACOCK, 1891, from a standard gauge Class P6 4-6-0 (BP 3404 of 1891) built for the New South Wales Government Railways, NSWGR No P11, the 5th in a very successful class of 191 locomotives, of which BP built the first 106. From 1924 it was renumbered C3205 of class C32 and lasted into the late 1960s. Four are preserved including C3203, but not this one. The class seem to have lost the oval builder's plate on the engine splasher early on, but maker's plates were retained, as originally fitted, on the tender. The letters TAB on the obverse refer to the tender; TAB 11 was a 6-wheel tender, rather than a double bogie type which many had.(TAB11-3205). Cast brass, 16½"x7¾", the front lightly cleaned. This lot is accompanied by the vendor's more detailed research notes and an official works photograph of one of the class. £400-500 |
| This lot sold for £400. |
