A worksplate, GREAT CENTRAL Ry, GORTON, 1914, from a Great Central Railway Class 1A 4-6-0 No 444 ex Works in October 1914. It became LNER Class B8 No 444C in 1923, and was renumbered 5444 in 1925 and 1355 in 1946. Withdrawn in September 1948 from Darnall, it was cut up at Dukinfield Works. Cast brass, 10½" x 6⅝", repainted, the number 5444 painted on the back. Note: The boltholes have been reduced in width by the railways at some time using brass infill. £400-600 |
