A nameplate, BYRON, from the BR Standard Britannia Class 7 4-6-2 No 70031 built at Crewe and allocated new to Holywood on 29 November 1952. It moved to Longsight two months later where it remained for eight years. Its later sheds included Aston, Willesden, Carlisle Upperby and Kingmoor from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 11 November 1967 and despatched for scrap to J. McWilliam at Shettleston on 7 March 1968. Cast brass, length 22½", the front repainted. £8000-10000 |
