A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Co. 25190, 1943, from a War Department Austerity 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Supply order by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 25190, in May 1943, WD No 77310. Loaned new to the LMS, it was allocated to Polmadie, Carlisle Kingmoor and Wellingborough. It was returned to the WD in December 1944 and saw war service in Belgium. On returning to the UK in April 1947 it was loaned to the GWR and allocated to Neath Court Sart and Llanelly. It was then purchased by BR becoming No 90225. Its BR sheds included Ebbw Junction, Mexborough, Doncaster and Barrow Hill from where it was withdrawn on 11 April 1965 and taken for scrap by Cashmores at Great Bridge on 29 June 1965. Cast white brass, 13¾"x5½", the front lightly cleaned. £150-300 |
