A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Co, HYDE PARK WORKS, 24712, 1941, from a Stanier type 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Supply order for the War Department in October 1941, WD No 504, later 70504. It was shipped new to Middle East Forces in Persia (Iran) as their No 41.159. On return to the UK in April 1948 it was sold to BR, becoming Class 8F No 48259. It spent most of its BR days at Mold Junction from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 26 June 1965 and taken for scrap by Cashmores at Great Bridge on 19 October 1965. Cast brass, 7¾", the front repainted. £150-300 |
