Auction Catalogue: Great Central Railwayana, 2 June 2018
Lot 219 |
A worksplate, COALBROOKDALE COMPANY, SHROPSHIRE. Although the Company has claimed to have built the first railway locomotive, for Richard Trevithick in 1802, this has never been established with any certainty. It did, however, build six 0-4-0STs in the 1880s for its own 2ft 4ins gauge system, one of which is preserved at Coalbrookdale. This plate is from one of the other five. Cast brass, 8¾"x6", lightly cleaned but unpainted, the ends trimmed. £600-900 |
| This lot did not sell at the auction. It may still be available to purchase for the reserve price of £ plus 18% commission and VAT. If you are interested in purchasing this Lot, please contact the GCR office without delay. |
