A nameplate, CITY OF HEREFORD, from the LMS Princess Coronation Class 8P 4-6-2 No 6255 built at Crewe in October 1946 and named when built without ceremony, becoming BR 46255. Allocated new to Camden on 16 October 1946 and later Carlisle Upperby, Crewe North and Kingmoor from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 12 September 1964 and sold for scrap to West of Scotland Shipbreaking at Troon. Cast brass, 75" long, the front repainted. £15000-18000 |
