| Lot 134 | A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Co, HYDE PARK WORKS, 24809, 1942, from a Stanier 8F type 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Supply order for the War Department, WD No 623. Loaned new to the LMS in September 1942, it was sold to them in November 1943, becoming Class 8F No 8285 and BR 48285. A long time Kettering engine from 1942 till 1964, it finished its days at Wellingborough and Leicester LM from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 18 September 1965 and taken for scrap by Cashmores at Great Bridge on 23 November 1965. Cast brass, 7¾", the front repainted. £200-350 |
