A smokebox numberplate, 32448, from a London Brighton & South Coast Railway C2 Class 0-6-0 No 448 built by Vulcan Foundry, Works No 1415, in August 1894. It was rebuilt with a larger boiler and re-classified to C2X Class in November 1912. Allocated as BR 32448 to Bricklayers Arms by January 1948 and later Redhill, Stewarts Lane and Norwood Junction from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 7 October 1961 and cut up immediately at Ashford Works. In ex loco condition, the BR(S) triangle cast on the back. £500-800 |
