A worksplate ANDREW BARCLAY 361, 1942, from a standard gauge 0-4-0DM new to the War Department at Longtown Central Ammunition Depot, Cumberland as WD 46. Later to the Longmoor Military Railway and sent to France just after D-day, returning to Great Britain in 1946. Later renumbered 70046 and then 826. Worked at a number of Army depots, including a period in the Middle East between 1952 and 1955 and Germany between 1960 and 1969. Later returned to Bicester Depot, Oxfordshire. Sold in 1978 to Farthingstone Silos Ltd., Northampton. In 1988 it passed to the Harry Needle Railroad Company and in May 2001 moved to Booth Roe Metals, Rotherham, for scrap. Cast brass, 16½"x11¾", in ex loco condition. £150-300 |
