A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Co, 25050, 1943, from a War Department Austerity 2-8-0 built in July 1943 to Ministry of Supply order, WD No 7179, later 77179. Loaned new to the LNER, it was allocated to Thornton Junction, returning to the WD in December 1944, when it was stored until purchased by BR in December 1949, becoming No 90163. Its BR sheds included Accrington, Wakefield, Warrington Dallam, Belle Vue and Newton Heath from where it was withdrawn on 29 December 1962 and cut up at Crewe Works by 4 October 1963. Cast white brass, 13¾"x5½", in ex loco condition. £150-300 |
