A nameplate, GUINNION, and its matching numberplate, D2008, from a 0-6-0DM built by Hudswell Clarke, Works No D218, in 1956 and supplied new to the Port of Bristol Authority at Avonmouth Dock. In about December 1973 it went to Romford Scrap Metal Co and in April 1975 to BR Stratford for repair. The following month it went to Howard-Doris at Stromeferry and was out of use when they closed in 1979. It was purchased by Alastair Bruce of Kirkwall and went to John Laurie (Aberdeen) Ltd for scrap, ending its days by May 1983 in the BR sidings at Evanton. Both plates cast brass, the nameplate, 20"x4½", the cabside 17½"x6", the fronts repainted. (2) £300-500 |
