A worksplate, No 2096, DONCASTER, 1951, from a (LMS) Class 4 2-6-0 No 43151 allocated new to Melton Constable on the Midland & Great Northern Joint line on 9 November 1951. Its later sheds were Stratford, Colwick, New England, Barrow Hill and Crewe South from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 18 February 1967 and sold for scrap to Cashmores at Great Bridge, entering their yard on 18 May 1967. Engraved brass, 12½"x6½", the back shows the wording, Serial Number Plate, which would have been transferred from the original wooden pattern when the plate was cast. £250-400 |
